Default New look Pixel ( hard copy)

Just seen a copy, and you know what? Sorry , I know you are trying hard, but I don't like it.

It looks dull, the colour has been washed out , knocking it out on cheaper stock may save money , but it has devalued it. It has the feel of a cheap handout at a trade show. The typography layout is nicely done though, but the designer needs to inject colour into it.

I cannot lie, sorry. You hate me, what can I do?

    Hi Mark
As always, great to hear your feedback. Of course we won't agree with you, but then you wouldn't expect us to, would you?

The decision to move onto the new paper stock was not about saving money, but instead to create a more tactile newspaper feel. We have had a good response so far from quite a few people and I'm pleased that you like the new design but to quote Abraham Lincoln, "you can please some of the people some of the time, you can please part of the people part of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."

    Best wishes,
    Laura

    OOooof!

    Hi Mark.

It was me who signed off the print invoice for the first two issues and I honestly wish it were cheaper to produce in the new format. Truth is, it's more expensive. Couple that with the extended distribution (additional 2544 outlets), our post bill has shot up too.

    Still, cheers for your honesty.

All comments welcome, with BPI looking like it's going the way of the dodo, it's important for us to make the title as good as we possibly can.

I agree, content fine but visually it's stepped back in time it's a bit like Mr Cad's Focus show daily handouts

Glossy was nice, unfolded was nice, and colourful was nice.

But change is nice too. Sometimes.

The body copy would be a lot easier to read in a serif typeface, there's nothing wrong with our old friend Times Roman in that respect. The heads would also appear a lot less 'leggy' if you used the bold version of Helvitica(?),

Well yes, first off you have miss-quoted old Abe as I'm sure its:
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, butyou can not fool all of the people all of the time.
    I like the mag though

Well thank you, ScubaDave, and I stand corrected on the Abe front! Perhaps I was giving him too much credit for being honest Abe!

Well i totally disagree with you all.
I think it looks loads better. Glossy and serif fonts... come on we are not in the 80s anymore! Nice recyclable paper stock, print quality is excellent.

    Well done Pixel.
